Summer Hair Care

Ok everyone so its officially summer time for me and that means summer time hair care! Summer is different for everyone so every ones routines will be different but here is how I try and keep my hair healthy and restored.

Before I jump in to my tips I want to start by talking about my hair type in general. In 90% of my photos my hair is usually straight and thats because its just easier to handle but in reality I have ringlet curly hair. It is a blessing and a curse to me, but I have learned to handle it over the years. Since my hair is naturally curly it is naturally more dry and brittle and doesnt grow nearly as fast. (Definitely the down side to curly hair.) Knowing your hair type is so important because you can learn new ways to help your hair grow, look healthier, and feel softer. Heres how I work to achieve that.

1. Dying Hair
I find myself in the water so much in the summer time that dying it really just isnt worth it, so in the summer time I stay clear away from hair dye. Yes this is really hard for me because I love having my hair dark and I hate regrowth but its totally worth it I promise. If you do decided to keep dying or lightening your hair in the summer time please make sure to do deep condition treatments on it to keep the roots of your hair from being fried.

2. Deep Condition Treatments and Scalp Treatments
If you are the type that loves head massages then this will be your new addiction. Going to a salon or getting some deep hair conditions you can do at home is sooo helpful in the summer time. If you are in the water a lot whether its in a pool, river, lake, or ocean, your hair will get nasty. Deep conditions and scalp treatments go in and refresh the hair allowing it to become moisturized and help the damaged cuticle. Now you definitely dont want to over kill your hair with this either. If you know you have super damaged hair I would recommend this twice a week with a home treatment. You can find these treatments almost anywhere such as Walmart, walgreens, ect. If you already have pretty healthy hair or virgin hair (Never been colored or lightened), I would recommend a treatment once a week to every two weeks. You dont want to over oil your scalp or you will have really bad greasy hair and nobody likes that. If you have thicker hair you dont want to do it as often as well.

3. Biotin
If you havent heard of this yet PLEASE JOIN THE CLUB. Biotin vitamins are just vitamins that enhance the production of oils in your scalp and will help your hair to grow faster and or make it thicker. There are many different types of biotin that you can buy and again its literally everywhere and is a decent price. I know there are many other hair vitamins you can buy and im sure they all work but this is the most common one used. You need to take it consistently and dont expect results in a week, vitamins enhance growth but dont speed the process up, over time you will notice a difference in your hair.

4. Monthly Hair Trim
Now for those of you who HATE cutting your hair I feel ya, its like the most dreadful thing because all that hard work goes to the ground, BUT this is actually one of the best things for your hair. Once you have dead ends on your hair their is no way to bring them back to life. No matter how many oils you put in your hair it will not help. Your hair will send all its oils to the dead ends because it too doesnt understand this fact. So if you go and get your hair trimmed, and I mean not even an inch every month your hair will grow faster and will look healthier because all the oils wont be trying to heal the dead ends. It is hard to do at first I know but honestly just by doing this I have seen a big difference in my hair.

5. Eating Healthy
Ok so I have to admit I really do suck at this tip a lot.... What you eat is literally what people will see on the outside, sadly its such a true fact. Even if you are a naturally small person you will notice other things then your weight that arent pretty. Your hair wont be shinny or pretty because you arent giving it the natural vitamins it needs. Soda, Sugar, Candy, Deadly hair foods. Your hair wont gain any nutrients and will st

op producing those nutrients. Try going on a cleansing diet and just drop soda from your habits and you will notice a small difference in your hair.

Everything ads up over time so I promise if you take the time to be healthy and set goals you will see the results in every way. Good Luck with your summer routines! Let me know how you keep your hair in check! Im always looking for new and great ways to improve my hair. :)
