New Cosmetic favs & International Hair Show??!!

Back with another blog post about what I've been up to! Lost has happened even in just the past two weeks so updating is a must right now...

I was so excited and grateful that I got to attend the IBS Hair Show in Vegas! That was literally a dream come true! There was so many things to see you like couldn't even take it all in. I think I looked like a little kid at christmas time honestly. It opened my eyes up to how much more there is in my industry then just school and the one product line you are taught to work with. I met tons of great people and even saw some of my favorite hair brand people show off their skills on stage! I only went for one day to get a good idea of what I want to look forward to in the next couple years of my industry but next year I plan on taking one on one classes and really diving into the entire experience.

Along with attending the hair show I finally finished school as well! I only have testing to do now and that is a bit stressful but I know I can fly through it. I am working for Mirabelle cosmetics now and I am so excited to join their team and be able to really share my passion with people in person! I am also going to be doing some salon work on the side and starting tomorrow I will be creating my own space so I will totally show you guys some pictures of my DIY room and how its coming along.

So while at the hair show I grabbed a palette I am super excited to show you guys and I also picked up a new foundation from Sephora that I wanted to talk to you guys about!

The first palette I picked up from the convection was the BH Cosmetics Studio Pro Contour Palette It comes with 6 shades, two of which are highlights and two that are more of a very light blush color. I have found playing with this palette that it is pretty pigmented but it doesnt bend the best. I feel like if you use a brush and rub it in the effect is barely there where as if you tap it on with a brush it shows up A LOT... Soo I'm still working on this product and seeing what is best. I do love the variety of colors it comes in because its very universal and you can pretty much use it on anyone and I have also found myself using some of the shades as eye shadows... oops...

As for the foundation I picked up I chose Makeup For Ever Professional Paris HD. It is medium coverage and I have found I like it but I'm also conflicted because I have been working with full coverage for quite some time so I'm just trying to adjust; but I do like that it blends well and I can't feel the foundation on my face. it does look like I've caked it on in too many layers. Th only other thing I'm not too fond of is the fact that it does take quite a bit to cover my face; again it may be because i haven't used the product enough yet but I'm working on it :).

Thats a pretty good update on whats been going on in my life lately, I will be posting some more makeup tips and tricks in the near future, I just need to get settled into some more job stuff but don't worry more fun stuff to come! If you guys have anything you want to see please email me or leave comments! I love to see what people are interested in and what they want to learn about. Thanks everyone for all your support!

Im Back! HUGE LIFE UPDATE

Hey everyone! I cannot express how sorry I am for not writing lately... a lot has happened to say at the very least and I just had to take a break from life for a bit. Back in August I got married, and that was the most amazing day of my life :). Nothing is truly more exciting then getting to marry the love of your life. Ill do a post on the wedding separately because thats a lot of info that we don't want to spend hours reading right now. So ill just give you the update on whats been going on since I got married...

Im not quite sure if I told you guys I was attending Aesthetics school back when I met my husband. I had been to Paul Mitchell Hair School previously before that. After aesthetics school and meeting Duncan I took a little break (Not by much Honestly lol...) I wasn't quite sure where to go at that point. Im in a town thats rapidly growing but not in the industry that I am currently in. I felt lost for a bit honestly and the first few months of being married were kinda lonely being at home all by myself while Duncan worked.. I hung out with my family enough times that they started to wonder why I moved out in the first place haha. I love my family and always enjoy every minute I get with them but I also didn't want to just sit around wondering where I'm supposed to be going with my life.

I live near a hair school and every time I drove past it I got this feeling of sadness; I missed being apart of that culture and I felt like I had given up. After weeks of repeatedly feeling this way I decided I would look into the schooling situation again. Crazy idea let me tell ya. (To this day I haven't gone more then two months without school since my freshman year of high school.) I told myself if it was meant to happen then it would all work out.. for a bit there it totally worked. The school told me my financial aid would all come out alright and I would be able to start school in the next 3 weeks. I got really nervous but also very excited because I wanted to finish what I started and my drive for becoming a Makeup Artist was still there. It was small but the passion I had wasn't completely gone yet. We decided it was the right decision to make and for the final and last time I was attempting school. This was school number 3 and I was determined not to fail. I came in to school with a very positive attitude and a better outlook on life. I had to start in the basics again which kinda sucked but it turned out to help me A TON. Finally getting to work on clients was the greatest feeling in the world but I also felt this fear because last time I was in this situation my school shut down and my dreams were literally taken from my hands. There have definitely been some ups and downs with school and I definitely have had my good days and my bad days but after 6 months of tears, pain, and hard work I can see my graduation date! For the first time I am finishing what I started and it has been 3 years of work, pain, rejection, and determination. Never thought I would ever have to go through all this trouble to gain a cosmetology license and never in my wildest dreams did I think my education would literally shut down on me! I really did hit a low for a while there but recently I have found my passion again!

I had been looking into cosmetic jobs and one of my instructors advised me to look into being a cosmetic educator. This means I get to travel to different schools and teach makeup classes and special classes based on the product I work with. Literally was a dream of mine and so I went for it full speed. I connected with another educator in town who referred me to a larger cosmetic company that had recently been restaffing everyone. Before I knew it they had me on a call and I was having an over the phone interview with what could be my dream job. By this point I am literally scared to death. Right out of three years of school and I am applying for a pretty big job position in a cosmetic company that I only imagined being apart of. After two weeks of contacting and sending all my info in everything went dark for about a week. No contact by email or phone.. literally devastated and worried out of my mind I thought they found someone better then me. I told myself (once again) if its meant to be then it will happen. So after a final few days of stress I finally decided to check my email for literally the 10,000 time and there it was..... WELCOME TO THE TEAM!!! Literally went into tears when I saw the subject title. I got my first dream job....!!!! I am about to graduate hair school now with over  3 years experience in school, and 5 plus years in cosmetics. Ive worked harder then I've ever worked before and never thought I would be good enough to land a big job. This is my first step into my big career and I couldn't be more happy and scared at the same time.

I apologize again deeply for abandoning you guys for quite some time. I had to find myself, find my courage, and find my drive again. But one great thing I learned from all of this, NEVER GIVE UP. No matter who tears you down and says you can't.. YOU CAN! I promise you can because I have and I will always keep moving forward. Thanks for all the support and I promise to start writing more and more again! Thanks family for everything you have every done for me and thanks to all my friends who have always pushed me to keep going! I love all you guys!

Last minute Summer Clothing Haul!

Fall seems to be creeping around the corner faster and faster every day.. which can only mean one thing... SUMMER SALES!

I will be headed to California for my Honey Moon and realized I desperately needed some beach clothes! So I hit the mall, I first stopped in Zumies because I really like some of their styles and if you know where to look you can find some great deals. Sure enough I found these super cute Swim Suite Pieces for 60% off! The Blue top piece was originally $24.95 and I got it for $12.00, the Maroon Bottoms were originally $19.95 and I got them for $10.00! I am definitely one to shop for bargains because I really dont feel like spending 30$ on a swim suite if im only going to wear it for a year or let it get worn out. Firm believe of sales! I also got these cute design leggings which were $17.95 and I got them for $7.00. If you shop smart and know when to buy clothing you can get some crazy sweet deals. Now I know since fall is coming you really arent buying swim suites unless its warm where you are at. So maybe you just need the excuse of taking a mini vacation to the beach and BAMB! Theres your new swim suite clothing excuse! I would head to Zumies now to see all of their special for back to school and summer sales before they are gone!

The next place I went today was Ross. It is definitely a hit or miss store in my opinion. Some you walk in and find fantastic things, other times not so much. They definitely do follow the current style but I always double check clothing for rips or stains. I found these super cute Tan Heels today for my floral maxi dress I bought. These shoes are definitely in style now and can go with literally anything! I did grab these shoes for $34.00 but they are normally around $45-$60 depending on where you shop so definitely still a great deal! If you look close enough you can also find designer clothing at Ross and some of the best deals on the planet. Its definitely my go to store when I want a variety of style, and or if I am on a budget! (Ill also include a picture of my floral dress so you can see what it looks like with the shoes)

I definitely recommend hitting the stores now even if its packed, because these sales are HUGE and the next time you will see them wont be this good until Black Friday! Which I will also be doing a Black Friday Post as well!

Pine Valley / County Fair trips! SNEAK PEEK ON PHOTOSHOOT?????

I decided to update you guys on a few adventures I have been on in the past few weeks and since these were both pretty small I decided to combined both trips. :)

PineValley Trip

If you are from Southern Utah one of your favorite places aside from Zions National Park is probably PineValley. This place is literally my entire childhood, I grew up camping here with my best friend and family all my life. I find if I can visit places like this every once in awhile I can relieve some stress and just think. Nature has always been my peaceful place and PineValley definitely hits the spot for me. With its beautiful forest, running river, and lake there is always adventures to seek out. Duncan and I decided to take a day off from wedding planning and left the technology world for a bit and I got to show him where I grew up at. We had such a fun time walking through the forest and just enjoying the peacefulness of it all. If you are every traveling through Southern Utah, make the stop in PineValley. Even if you dont go into the forest part there is a beautiful little town with some amazing historic sites to see.

County Fair

Yes I will start off by admitting that our County Fair isnt all that huge.... But its still great for us! This year our county fair was brought up with a live monkey show, and trampoline preformances! We always have monster truck shows and animal stock shows so there really is something for everyone. Though im not into all the shows I am definitely there for the rides! Everyone knows some of the scariest rides in the worlds are the old ones you find at county fairs. Definitely gotta admit some scared the life out of me and I thought we werent going to make it back to the ground but it was still amazing! I love the county fair because its fun to just let go for a night and let all your adrenaline out until you are literally sick, or exhausted. For those who arent adrenaline junkies theres games, stock shows, booths, and craft shows so nobody is bored. Our county fair runs the first week of August and this year we were treated to a crazy lightning show as well. If you are ever here in early August look up the Washington County Fair and come join us for some crazy fun!

SNEAK PEEK.. KIND OF...

So the last thing I wanted to talk about was the photoshoot Duncan and I were recently in. Southern Utah is known for its wedding photography and you literally cant get enough of it. We have some of the most spectacular nature settings in the world down here! As funny as this is we shot this photoshoot in PineValley! It was as you guessed a Wedding Photoshoot, but not in my wedding dress! I will have a photoshoot of that coming in the future. While almost falling off giant tree logs, and stepping on snakes this was an amazing photoshoot to be apart of! Although I cannot post any photos yet until full rights are given :/ I will put the photographers InstaGram below so you can go check out their work and see some sneak peeks of Duncans and I's Shoot!

Date Night Restraunt Review!

Hey Everyone! Sorry its been so long! Ive been wedding planning so much lately that I just have put my blog aside for a bit but since I will be getting married next week I will start posting again!
I realized I havent done many reviews so that's what my next few post are going to be about.

A few nights ago I had a mini date night with my mom and we were searching for a good place to eat that wasn't to expensive but not to cheap either. We ended up finding Pizzeria Limone and let me tell you.. IT WAS FANTASTIC! You basically get to create you own pizza which comes in a good size for a great price, they have fancy oils and cheeses which I thought really brought out that Italian feel to the restaurant. Its not super fancy either so you dont feel like you have to dress up. For a first impression I thought it was fantastic and I am a pretty critical person when it comes to food. Not only was the food great but the service was amazing as well. Its always a better night when your service is great! I ate at the Pizzeria Limone in St George UT but others can be found in Vegas and many other places. If you are looking for a fun little lunch or dinner date this place is definitely a MUST TRY. If you are stopping through Utah and need a good lunch this is your place as well. Great place, great service, and great food! It doesnt get better then that!

First impressions review on Ulta Products!

I posted about this awhile ago wanting to do a first impression on some new shampoo and conditioner I recently purchased but I realized it would be better if I waited a few weeks and actually tried to product out a bit.

I am always in search of good products for my hair and one big thing that I have been lacking on is a good shampoo and conditioner. Since I am coloring my hair every so often I wanted a product that would keep my hair healthy and also keep the color in. Now I have learned that unless a shampoo has the direct color infused in it, you will not find a shampoo that keeps your hair color perfect. Many shampoos prevent it from fading faster, and keep the color looking shiny and nice even when it fades. There are shampoos with some pigment in them but if you are interested in those you have to make sure it has the color you want. If you pick an off color then every time you wash your hair the color will change a bit. Kind of like purple shampoo, you use that stuff and bam! Instant purple or white hair! Here's what I found that has helped improve my hair texture and color.

1. Matrix Total Results Color Obsessed Shampoo
For starters, this smells AMAZING! You open the bottle and are instantly hit with grape smelling shampoo. I love how strong this shampoo is because when i get out of the shower I can smell the grape for at least a day after. This shampoo does not bubble up a ton which is nice so it is not drying out my hair, and the color of the actual shampoo is white so there is no dye in the bottle. It only takes a little bit in my hand to use for my hair which is also a big deal for me. Im always a little nervous with hair products because I never know how my hair will react but I really enjoyed this shampoo. You can purchase this item at Ulta, or online Ulta, other hair salons. I got this product during a Matrix sale so it made the deal even better for me, plus I love the Matrix line itself. I use Matrix color on my hair and always am happy with the results. Id recommend this for darker colored hair for sure. This product is normally around 10-30$ at Ulta and will change depending on store.

2. Matrix Biolage color last Conditioner/Revitalisant

First impressions for this conditioner were just as great as the shampoo. They are two different color lines but I find that mixing these two lines helps just as much as sticking with one. The smell is more of a flower blossom hint and isnt as strong. Not my favorite but the way my hair feels is amazing. It also does not take a lot of product to fill your hair and leaves it soft and shiny. I find even when my hair is at its worst in damage the Matrix Line has such a good effect on it. I also purchased this at Ulta on sale but its averaged around 25-30$ Definitely worth the investment

3. Matrix Biolage Color Last Mask
You cant end a great hair treatment without a good mask. I have found that most hair mask act similar to leaving conditioner in for a long time so I havent quite found one that amazes me yet but this mask is still very good. It definitely works best when your hair is just damp and when you are able to leave it in for a long period of time. I have yet to sleep over night with it in my hair yet but I can definitely do that and let you guys know how that goes. Its great for right after I color my hair and I just soak in it for a good 10-20 minutes in a steaming shower. Always rinse with cool water even after a mask because it will close your hair cuticle and keep the color in longer. I know its hard to stand in cold water but if it keeps your hair healthy you can be strong for a good 2 minutes of rinsing. I purchased this at Ulta on sale and it is usually around 25-35$

I really would refer people to Matrix, their products have usually had a good reaction to my hair and I hope you guys take the time to try it. I know its simple to go Walmart and buy some cheap shampoo that feels good at first but most of the time its super harsh on your hair in the future and will dry it out completely. If you have the extra money go invest in some good shampoo and conditioner, the Matrix line has many other products that fit for every type of hair so dont feel left out! Just go check it out!

TIP OF THE WEEK( If your shampoo bubbles up a lot when you are scrubbing your hair it has a ton of sulfate in it; sulfates main purpose is to dry things out so at first it feels great till you have to use it every day because you are just adding build up on your scalp! Gross! Watch what products you use on your hair and experiment to see what has the best results for you.)
